In a recent interview with Dave Girouard president of the Google enterprise division it was said that Google docs may take over Windows Office to become the number one office suite in the work area.

Google says that with their comprehensive array of office applications and the stability of Google apps more and more businesses will be switching to Google docs.

Google also admitted that docs is “much less mature” then other Google applications such as calendar and Gmail.

But all this is about to change.

If you owned a business would you use Google Docs exclusively? Leave a comment below.

YouTube has always had the HD button in just about every video for a while now, but that wasn’t true HD. Before now YouTube has only supported a max of 720p which is still considered HD by most. But starting next week YouTube will begin allowing users to upload and view videos in 1080p true HD.

What does this mean? Every YouTube video uploaded in HD will be able to support 1080 vertical “lines” this means that videos will begin to display much clearer. Unless you are watching youtube videos on your TV you most likly will only see a slight improvement in quality and a much longer load time.

Last week Facebook ordered a restraining order on three spammers Sanford Wallace, Adam Arzoomanian and Scott Shaw for collecting user names and passwords and then logging on to their account and posting some shady content. These men broke the law by violating the Computer Fraud and Abuse act, the California Anti-Phishing Act and the Controlling the Assault of Non-Solicited Pornography and Marketing Act (CAN-SPAM). If any of these three men are ever caught using Facebook they could face some serious jail time.

Today a court in San Jose Calif. awarded Facebook a grand total of $711 million in a case against hacker and spammer Sanford Wallace. This man accessed many peoples accounts and sent wall posts and messages. The judge then refereed Wallace to the U.S. Attorney’s office where he will be prosecuted with criminal and federal crimes which could land him in jail.

This isn’t the first time that Facebook has gone to court regarding spam. In November Facebook won a settlement for $873 million made against Adam Guerbuez and Atlantis Blue Capital for sending unwanted messages to users of Facebook. Facebook says “we’re hopeful that this kind of persistent pressure will act as a deterrent against those attempting to trick and annoy people on Facebook”

Since Google Wave is still in a closed bet not very many people have gotten the opportunity to play around with it but hopefully you, like me have watched the the Wave technology demo many times and waiting for that email from Google containing that precious invitation code.

As more and more people begin to test Wave a few more of the bugs will be squashed never to be seen again. Once that is done Google will probably begin rolling out more invites. But Wave doesn’t only need front end users it also needs more developers.

With the introduction of a new app store you can expect to see more developers join in on the fun, some with the hopes of making money and some just hoping to make the next big thing.

If you were a developer would you join Google Wave now that it has an app store?

Imagine being able to transform your boring old browser window into a virtual window looking out into the world. With Personas developed by the Mozilla Labs team you can do exactly that with the click of a button.

Personas is a FireFox plug-in that allows you to install light weight skins for FireFox that you can preview and install without having to restart FireFox each time. To preview a persona on the persona website all you have to do is roll your cursor over the picture and it instantly shows you what it will look like. To activate the persona click on the activate link and it will take affect automatically.

Making your own Persona is just as easy as activating one that is already made. Ally you need to do is upload two images one 3000×200 px and another 3000×100 px, you will then need to select a color that will contrast well on the background images you just made and pow, you have your very own FireFox theme.

There are many different premade Personas to choose from that will go well with any holiday or mood.

The 140inabottle website only requires three things of you, first you have to write your witty message you want to be sent in 140 characters or less, then you enter the verification text into the re-CAPTCHA box to verify that you are indeed human and lastly click the send button.

Your message will then be sent to a random twitter user via the @140inabottle account within three months.

Raindrop aims to centralize all types of communication such as e-mail, Facebook, and even Twitter into a single interface that has enough smarts to separate those important messages your Mom sent you from everything else.

When email was first invented it was the main method of communication on the internet, but now with Twitter, Facebook, and Skype that is no longer the case. These new ways of communication are great but all this means is that we now have to check ten different places for new messages. In a blog post one of the Raindrop developers said, “We hope to lead and spur the development of extensible applications that help users easily and enjoyably manage their conversations, notifications, and messages across a variety of online services.”

Raindrop will recognize messages from various different mailing lists or other services that send numerous updates and files them into separate categories.

Raindrop is not a downloadable piece of software, it is actually a web application. Developers say “Our flagship applications will be built entirely for any modern web browser that supports open web technologies.”

Would you use Raindrop to centralize all your messages?

There are so many different twitter applications out there these days. But which one is right for you? Here’s a first look at Brizzly by Think labs.

Brizzly is a web based twitter application. It has all the same features as all the other twitter apps and has some added bonuses.

1. “Trends and News”

This section displays the popular topics of right now and explains what that specific trend is all about. For example one of the trending topics was “Tweetie 2″ with a discription of “A new version of the iPhone Twitter app was released today. Some are whining that its $2.99 …”. Users or Brizzly can also edit the descriptions if they feel that they do not properly depict the reasoning behing the trend.

2. Mute

We all have them, those people that just post the worst updates but you just cant unfollow them because they might be family or a good friend. Brizzly has introduced a feature called Mute. Mute allows you to make sure that you never see another annoying update from that person without actually unfollowing them. You can always Un-Mute people once you feel that you want to hear from them again.

3. Readability

Short url’s are great if you want to include a url to your blog post in your 140 character or less tweet, but with shortened url’s you cant always know where the link will lead you to. Brizzly will expand url’s from many of the popular url shortening services into the full url so you can see if you’ve been rick rolled or not. When the expanded url turns out to be a link to a youtube video it will automaticly embed the video right there in Brizzley.

Brizzly is currently in a closed beta so if you would like to sign up and try it for yourself here using the invitation code “henrysentme” without the quotes.

Well with every problem there’s a solution.

There’s a very useful website called JiWire. They have a database of almost all the public Wi-Fi hotspots in the United States and various countries. With with the economy in the drains these days who has money to pay for Wi-Fi. Well you’re still in luck, many of the hotspots listed are free.

All you have to do is select your country, select a state/province, and tell them your city and zipcode. A list of hotels, bars and coffee shops in your area that provide Wi-Fi in your area will appear. You can then get a map to that location and see if they provide 802.11B or 802.11G.

What kind of experiences have you had when using free Wi-Fi?
