Linux is just like any other operating system, it may take a while to get used to the look and feel but thats probably the hardest part. There are plenty of pre-installed programs like OpenOffice, a free office suite like Microsoft Office. Linux also comes with a wide variety of games ranging from solitaire to just about any game you can dream of.

Many of the applications that are available for Linux are free. This is because instead of one company hiring a set number of people to write the program there is a community of programmers that donate their time to help develop the program. If there is ever a problem with the program there is almost a fix for it in the next update.

Now, you might be wondering “How do I start using linux?” Well my friend its just as easy. Just head on over to ubuntu.com and download a “Live CD” A live CD is basicaly the operating system on a dist that you can play around with without actualy installing it.
