These contractless iPhone’s will be available for $599 for the 8GB or $699 for the 16GB model. But there’s a catch, even though there will be no contract the phone will still be locked so that you can only use it on the AT&T network.

You will still have to sign up for an iPhone account with AT&T. Although what you could do is cancel your plan and only have to pay for activation fees and a month of service. But all you would be left with is a really expensive WiFi device.

If you really want to you can always jailbreak the iPhone and try to unlock it but, honestly would you really be willing to chance turning that phone into a $700 paper weight?

CNET’s Tom Krazit tried to contact apple to see if the same offer would be available in he apple stores. But unfortunately apple did not respond. So your only way of getting this deal is to buy your iPhone at your local AT&T store.

After the keynote, apple released a recording that is 90 minutes long.

The video might take some time out from your life, but I can almost guarentee you that it will be well worth it. Some say that the guy that did the keynote was “so Jobs-like” that teey sometimes thought steve was off stage using invisible wires to controll him.

With the touch screen smart-phone market ever increasing the iPhone must adopt some key features to stay ahead of the pack.

The obvious features that the iPhone is missing are copy-and-paste and multimedia messaging. But the the phone also needs some features that will increase the usability of the phone like the ability to run applications in the background and search.

Hopefully at the press conference today apple will make these wishes a reality.

The iPhone is one of the most sophisticated smartphones out on the market today. But, with the release of the palm pre due in the first half of 2009 that will sport an operating system that seems to closley mimic that of the iPhone, it looks like apple is begining to have some serious competition.

The major addition that the iPhones operating system needs is the ability to run applications in the backround so users can multitask. For instance, if you are using an instant messaging program the application will disconnect when you return to the home screen.

If you were able to run that program in the background you would be able to recieve notifications when some one IMs you.

In the usability department, the iPhone needs the ability to search. Currentally you have to scroll through all the emails you have ever recieved to find the one you are looking for. But, with a search feature you would be able to find emails containing a certain keyword ar from a specific sender.

If apple just added those features they would probably be once again ahead of the pack.

What kind of features would you want to see included in the new iPhone operating system?

On the Lookout for Card-Counting Apps

A new app for the iPhone allows people cheat at blackjack

Since apples app store launched in July of 2008 Apple has tried to maintain a PG 13 standard.

Thats why you wont find any adult games for the iPhone. Tho you can access adult content optimized for the iPhone, you can fin an article about that here

That said, I would have thought that Apple wouldn’t approve of an app that could possibly get one arrested. But with a new app “A Blackjack card counter” that is not the case

You’ve seen the movies where a high-roller playing in a casino gets pulled into a dark room in the back of the casino, where the floor manager of the casino beats the crap out of that guy warning him never to return to the casino.

Card counting is a complicated method of determining when and how much to bet in the game blackjack. This is actually not illegal it is a sure way to get kicked out of a casino or even the pleasure of entering the dark back room discussed earlier. But however what is most definitely illegal, is the use of an electronic device to aid in your card counting.

The card-counting app can be used on either the iPod Touch or the iPhone … once this app is installed on either of the devices it makes card counting easy. This app has has an option called stealth mode that makes the screen appear as if it is off. The user can still use this app as long as he/she knows where each button is located on the screen.

As some casinos have pointed out, the use of such programs or even having it in your possession within a licensed casino is illegal.

The creator of this app has warned its users that “This card counter is great for learning to count cards or for playing blackjack with your friends. While counting cards is deemed legal, electronic card counting devices are illegal in many casinos. Therefore I would not recommend using this app in a casino as you could get into a lot of trouble.”

Well with that said I strongly urge you not to buy this app if you ever intend on taking your iPod/iPhone to the casino with you.
